#napowrimo Day 4 - “How to Grow a Poem”
Hey, beautiful people. Day 4 of National Poetry Month’s prompt was to write a poem in the form of a poetry prompt. Here it is:
Day 4 - HOW TO GROW A POEM
By Farah Lawal Harris
- Open an empty page or document.
- Discard your thoughts, especially the ones that don’t connect.
- Don’t worry about being profound.
- Type until the truth comes out.
- Take a sip of uncomfortable.
- Swish around until it tastes vulnerable.
- Dig a hole.
- Spit out your words and water them in.
- Call a friend.
- Repent your sins.
- Begin again.
- Fertilize fancy words like delicate flowers.
- Allow pretty petals to drop to the earth.
- Remember that creativity takes work.
- Forgive yourself.
- Drink to good health.
- Shed a tear.
- Acknowledge fear.
- Revise.
- Thrive.
- Share if the spirit leads.
- Or quietly harvest your full-grown seeds.
- Believe.
