FEMININE AURA
Much peace. Today’s poetry prompt is:
Write your own poem in which you use at least three metaphors for a single thing, include an exclamation, ruminate on the definition of a word, and come back in the closing line to the image or idea with which you opened the poem.
Here is my poem:
FEMININE AURA
By Farah Lawal Harris, 2026
My aura be
day-three-color menses,
crimson rambler roses climbing,
Pinot Noir low histamines.
Ain’t nobody fierce and soft like me!
Femininity,
according to Julian Frazier, PhD,
is defined as “a personality trait concerned with
an individual's interest or engagement
in aesthetics.”
Others, like Cambridge,
definite it as “the fact or quality of having
characteristics traditionally thought to be
suitable or typical of a woman.”
So basically,
femininity is focused interest in pretty,
fashion, cooking, dieting,
flirting, gossiping, crying,
seducing, conceiving,
birthing, and mothering,
all while caring deeply
about what men think of me?
I prefer to live as energy.
I am soft red vibrating speedily,
anger, passion, and creativity coexisting
in harmony.
