NEIGHBORS (Poem)

NEIGHBORS

By Farah Lawal Harris, 2025

Welcome to DC,

where we honor Blacks who are dead,

and treat the live ones like ghosts.

Welcome to DC,

where we drink $15 cocktails

named after neighborhoods we don’t know.

Have you tried the Chuck Brown burger?

Ordered the Barry Farms drink?

This city tastes so good,

we don’t even have to think!
