THE NEED TO BE LIKED

I am divorcing myself from

the need to be liked,

coaxing down forced

church girl smiles

to communicate calmly

with intention.

Suddenly, there’s less tension.

My jaw and hips release—

orgasmic satisfaction

from honoring self.
